A confident if not disjointed display by The Blues saw them run out 4-2 winners at The Rowley Lane Sports Ground this afternoon (3rd of August). A raft of rolling substitutions broke up the flow of the game but regardless of personnel, Hertford Town always looked comfortable.
Hertford Town FC consisted of the returning Ricketts in goal plus Buffonge, Elliott, Wade, Frazer, Donovan, Tomkins, Campbell, Brown, White, Smith, Teniola, Summers & Anstead plus some new trialists and cameos from some of our more promising U-21’s. TJ was omitted due to a tight hamstring and Stock & Charles were both absent on leave.
Mark Summers replied for The Blues after Cuffley had raced into a 2-0 lead with Charlie Smith slotting home from the edge of the area to restore parity at half-time. Two more goals were to follow in the second half. The first, a tap-in from promising U-21, Brandon White who netted for the 3rd time in pre-season after a bursting, mazy run from last season’s MVP Kardan Campbell and the second by Alex Teniola after he broke away at the half way line and calmly finished past the Cuffley ‘keeper.
The season looks promising for The Blues if our pre-season form is anything to go by and Marvin will be confirming his squad in the next few days. We begin our campaign on Tuesday night at 7.45pm in the Charity Shield vs London Colney at The Park. This competition saw Hertford Town defeated in the final last season so we’ll be hoping to go one better this year. Please come along and feel free to bring your instruments, best singing voices and ghost costumes to cheer on the lads to victory!
