Tring Athletic vs Hertford Town

Score: 3 - 1

Match Report

The impressive Grassroots Stadium just outside Tring was the setting for Tuesday night’s SSML Premier Division fixture. A huge, modern clubhouse equipped with an extensive bar, catering facilities and entertainment made the long journey worthwhile. The pitch (although massively sloped) was in excellent condition and the early evening mist made for a slick passing surface. The Blues were without the suspended Tommy Wade and the absent Kardan Campbell. Sean Stock & Michael Elliott had already left the club earlier in the week whilst Anthony Anstead has opted to join Ware. The result went Tring’s way but for the umpteenth match running, we failed to take our chances whilst the opposition seemed to score with all of theirs. The Blues midfield kept carving out goalscoring opportunities throughout but only Adam Lawton’s solitary strike after good work from Mark Summers found the back of the net. A large and noisy home fanbase celebrated the final whistle whist the handful of attending Hertford fans left Tring wondering what might have been.
