It was a busy week for The Blues. First up was Tuesday night when we welcomed Tring Athletic to The Park. The Blues dominated play and fans were confident we were going to see a win when we were 2 – 0 up thanks to Mark Summers’ boot. Tring however got back in the game when following a penalty the score was evened to 2 a piece. This made the final minutes a nail biting affair for all fans. I think all of Hertford heard the noise when Tommy Wade scored the last minute winner. What a night! See the match page for the player stats, match report and video.
On Saturday we welcomed local rivals Welwyn Garden City to The Park. There were a few attempts on goal but sadly, the ball just wouldn’t find the back of the net. Unlike Tuesday night, when an injury time goal brought joy to the ground, this time, the joy was all Welwyn’s when they won the game 0 – 1. The loss was disappointing but the attendance of 353 shows that this club is going places. See the match page for the player stats, match report and video.
With only two matches to go, winning the league is now out of our reach and congratulations to London Colney who have lead the table for most of the season. Congratulations must also go to Gavin Kelsey, the coaching staff and the team. It has been a fantastic season and the number of proud Blues fans is growing by the week. Well done on the hard work and keeping the dream alive for so long. I personally, have loved it and can’t wait to see what happens next!
The Development Team had a game free week. However, they are playing their last game at home this Saturday. As the first team don’t have a game, get your football fix in before the season draws to a close!
The EJA teams were still on a league break but will be back in action this week.
Stevenage Ladies had their last home game for the season on Sunday when they welcomed Gillingham Ladies to The Park. Gillingham took an early lead. Stevenage had the chance to even the score when they were awarded a penalty but unfortunately they were unable to convert it and ultimately lost the game 1 – 0.

We made good use of the bank holiday today to hold a charity match to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. The game was a hotly contested match between coaches and fans. It was great fun to watch and the final result was 8 – 4 … to the coaches. While many would say that football is the real winner, I think that tonight, the actual winners are ice baths and the manufacturers of muscle relaxants! Well done to all involved for raising money for a great cause and entertaining many in the process! Here they all are looking fresh prior to the game (and no, that fan is not kneeling for the gaffa!).
