The week started off in fine form when The Blues welcomed Sun Sports to The Park. In front of an impressive crowd for a Tuesday night, the team kept a clean sheet while putting 2 past the visitors. Phil Lowen continued to show his skill by adding yet another goal to his season tally and the second was netted by Ramone Cassidy-Sinclair (his first goal for the club). The team worked well as unit and the result was thoroughly deserved. See the match page for the player stats, match report and video.
Unfortunately it didn’t go so well on Saturday when the club descended en masse at St Margaretsbury. Even though St Mags went down to 10 men quite early in the game, The Blues just didn’t seem able to convert their chances into goals. I think many nails were bitten in the stands when the team went 2 – 0 down. Mark Summers, who came on in the 69th minute, managed to score a mere 2 minutes later. Sadly, it wasn’t enough and we lost 2 – 1. This puts pressure on our remaining games but Hertford Town is still in the mix for top spot so let’s get behind the boys and make the last 7 games, the best supported games of the season. The fan’s voices are the 12th man so let’s prove it! See the match page for the player stats and video.
Sunday was a busy day for the club. The U13 EJAs started the action at home with a game against Ryan. This was a game between 2nd and 3rd placed teams so the boys needed to work hard for their win. They certainly did themselves proud with their 3 – 1 win.
The next winners were our U14 EJAs. They had an exciting journey to The County Ground for their Herts County Cup Final against Sun Sports. The wind did not make it easy for the boys and it was a very close game. In the dying minutes of the game, Soloman James scored, making the score 2 – 1 and him Man of the Match. Well done boys on your fantastic win. Here are their happy faces.
Finally, Sunday also saw Stevenage Ladies play Ipswich Ladies at The Park. It was a very close game and the windy conditions did not help. At the final whistle, the score was 2 – 3 to Ipswich. Chin up ladies and focus on the next one!
