The week started when The Blues spent Valentines Day with the boys from Hoddesdon Town. This wasn’t a friendly trip out but the quarter final match in the Dudley Latham Memorial Cup. The boss put together an experimental side that consisted of a few players from the Development Team getting a run out while some of the regular First Teamers had a well earned rest. While the game ended in a 1 – 0 defeat for Hertford Town, the boys performed well considering their lack of experience playing with the first team. For the player stats, video and match report, please see the match page.
Saturday saw The Blues in another away game when they travelled to Sun Sports. Following last week’s loss to Biggleswade, the team had a point to prove and came out fighting with Jay Lovell scoring after just 5 minutes. The team defended well and with a goal from Brett O’Connor, finished the game 2 – 0. Blues fans were delighted to welcome Sam Ruff back from injury when he came on as a substitute. The Gaffa (@gavin_kelsey) tweeted the following after the game:
3 points picked up on the road at a tough venue. Strong display from the boys @HertfordTownFC Big thanks to the travelling support
The Development Team continued their dominance at the top of their league when they welcomed Colney Heath to The Park on Saturday. With a goal from substitute Daly in the 78th minute and an own goal from Colney Heath, the lads added another 3 points to their league position in the 2 – 0 win.
Following a two week break, the U13 EJAs welcomed Romford to The Park on Sunday. While the boys did their best, Romford proved to be the better team on the day and won 2 – 0. Keep your heads up boys and focus on the next one.
The U14 EJAs also had a game on Sunday when they travelled to Biggleswade. While a trip to Biggleswade can always be tough, the boys put on a top performance and won the game 3 – 1. Well done boys!!
