Tuesday night saw The Blues take on league leaders London Colney at The Park. Following the loss to Cockfosters the previous Saturday, the boys came out fighting from the very first whistle. Spurred on by 276 screaming fans and the team’s determination to make their supporters proud, the game finished in a convincing 3 – 0 win! Apart from the fantastic result, goal scorer Tommy Wade launching himself into the crowd as a goal celebration had Blues Fans talking excitedly all week. The team were back in action on Saturday when they travelled to Stotfold. Following the success on Tuesday, the fans followed the team en masse up the A1. The game was slightly more nail biting than Tuesday with only a 1 goal lead but was, as always, great entertainment – in fact, the fans even loudly celebrated what they thought was a second goal! Make your own mind up when you watch the video. Congratulations to the players and staff for adding a further 3 points to our league tally. Player, Glenn Draper summed up the game as follows on Twitter:
@Draps_4: Tough place to go today but boys were exemplary in their attitudes, desire, commitment and work rate to come away with the 3 @HertfordTownFC

The Development Team also travelled to Stotfold this week. The ground proved to be a tough place for them to score too and the game finished in a 0 – 0 draw. The point means the team are still league leaders with an 8 point advantage. The team were due to welcome Winslow United to The Park on Saturday. However, due to a number of injuries, Winslow United were unable to travel. We are awaiting confirmation if the points will be awarded to HTFC or if the game will be replayed.
Both of our EJA teams had matches on Sunday. First up were the U13s who played Redbridge Brown at The Park. This was a tough game for the boys and finished in a 2 – 2 draw. They are now enjoying their Christmas break and their next game will be the Patrons Cup U13’s Quarter Final on the 15th January when they travel to Romford.
The U14s also had an away game scheduled for Sunday. However, Cheshunt were unable to get a team on time and the 3 points were awarded to us. This was a lovely early Christmas present for the boys who next play on the 8th January in the Herts County Cup U14’s Quarter Final against Watford Youth. This will be an away fixture.
Last but not least, our associated club, Stevenage Ladies had an away game to Milton Keynes Dons FC Ladies on Sunday. It just wasn’t their day and the game ended in a 2 – 0 loss. Their next game will be in the new year so keep an eye on the calendar.
