After going 2-0 down after just 12mins, most Blues fans were fearing the worst especially given the performance at Leverstock Green just before Christmas but the boys dug deep and pulled off a miraculous 2nd half comeback scoring three goals in 31 minutes to take all 3 points on the day and maintain 4th position in the SSML Premier Division table.
Leigh Rose was again the match-winner with his goal on 74mins following strikes from Ewington and Hatherly but in truth it was goalkeeper, Harry Ricketts with several world-class saves that really kept Hertford Town in this game.
Leigh started on the bench as a precaution having injured his thigh on Wednesday night at Hadley but was introduced just after the hour mark for Ross Clemo as Halsey shuffled his pack to increase the pressure on the tiring Leverstock Green defence.
96 excitable fans watched on as The Blues took the lead and held on until the final whistle to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
Defender, Gareth Madden has decided to move on to pastures new this week but was immediately replaced in the squad by hot midfield prospect, Charlie Ruff. The exciting youngster who is the brother of skipper Sam Ruff had been playing with Ware’s academy side of late but has now placed his faith in The Blues and signed on for the rest of the season. Welcome to the club Charlie!
Next up for the lads will be the small matter of a 1/4 final in the League Challenge Trophy against Berko at their place on Tuesday night.
