Vase Wars original

Well, with The Blues’ league form taking a recent dip, The FA Vase could prove to be a welcome distraction for everyone at the club this Saturday when we welcome Essex Senior league side, FC Romania to The Park.

The Romanian outfit actually play closer to Cheshunt than Transylvania or Bucharest but should prove to be of a similar challenge to that faced from our last FA Vase opponents, Barking FC. 3rd placed FC Romania lost 3-1 away to struggling Waltham Forest on Saturday but had previously won their last six games, scoring 27 goals in the process. Both teams will want to progress into the next round and be one of the last 32 teams left in the country for Monday’s draw at FAHQ.

The next round opens up nationwide so the winner could be undertaking a mammoth coach trip.

The recent form might point towards a win for the visitors but the bookies disagree making Hertford Town favourites for the tie at odds of 11/10. FC Romania are available at 11/8 with the draw on offer at 7/2. The value isn’t great but with only three Leeds Utd managers until Christmas, any small windfall could come in handy for those last minute stocking-fillers!

We are expecting a bumper crowd for this one with FC Romania expected to bring over a hundred fans to cheer on their team so we’ll need every single Blues fan out in force and making some noise for the lads at the weekend. We’ll have Norwich vs Everton live in our friendly, welcoming clubhouse at 12:45pm on the big screens prior to the kick-off and our All-Inclusive players will be training at 11:15am so come along and support your local club.

Following Saturday’s game we have another home game on Tuesday night at 7:45pm under the lights in the last 16 of the League Challenge Trophy.

Then we’ll have our last league home game of the year on the 19th when we’ll be having a bit of an Xmas party but more on that next week.
