Close to 200 Blues fans excitedly filled The Park in all manner of festive costumes to witness Hertford Town’s passage into the 2nd Round of The FA Vase on Saturday with a close-fought 4-3 win over our visitors from St.Neots, Eynesbury Rovers.
The Blues rarely needed to get out of 2nd gear to win this game but made hard work of the job after throwing away a 3-1 advantage and leaving it until the 86th minute to finally dispatch Rover’s stubborn, dogged resistance.
The Herts Mercury were in attendance and you can read their reporter’s take on things plus post-match interviews with the gaffa and players here plus the usual “Match In Tweets” here. If you missed the goals, the highlights can be viewed below courtesy of Sharon Vanner.
A great day was had by all especially the matchday mascots, the apple-bobbers and the young winners of the pumpkin-carving competition with prizes handed out by victorious club skipper, Sam Ruff.
Leigh Rose is now up to second in the league’s hotshot table just behind AFC Dunstable’s BJ Christie but with brother Louis also scoring on Saturday he needs to watch his back! Leigh was presented with a commemorative silver platter following the match for notching 50 goals for the club. Well done Leigh!!!
The B’Lotto draw for October was also drawn post-game in the clubhouse amid the usual celebrations and resulted in a rollover with nobody selecting the lucky winning numbers which were 7 & 19. The next draw’s pot in November will now rise to £200. See our B’Lotto page for details on how to enter here!
Thanks so much for your fanatical support once again, you have no idea how much it means to the players!
Player Of The Month voting closes next week with the winner crowned on Saturday night so choose your favourite for October’s title here!
Our next opponents in The FA Vase will be selected by The FA on Monday lunchtime so stay tuned to our Facebook page and Twitter feed for the breaking news of the draw. Big home crowd or fun coach trip? What would you prefer?
Now we move onto another cup competition on Tuesday night when we travel to Sun Sports to compete in The Herts Senior Cup.
