Some say ghosts are just a thing of the past…

Here at The Park, we are very proud of our town’s haunted heritage and plan to celebrate Halloween in a big way! At this time of year, The Stable End sing “We’ve got more ghosts than you!” and for a very good reason as documented here by Ruth Stratton who is the Assistant Curator at The Hertford Museum and has also written a very interesting book listing the spine-chilling recordings of supernatural events in our town, making Hertford one of the most haunted towns in the world.

On Saturday at 3pm, we host Eyensbury Rovers in The FA Vase which is one of our biggest games of the year. The Blues are in great form this season and we’re very confident of a win in this prestigious competition at the weekend!

Huge thanks to Natalie Hart for organising this event and co-ordinating the matchday mascots!

We’ll be in our most ghoulish fancy dress costumes and enjoying the game in unearthly style with a fully decorated, supernaturally-themed clubhouse, traditional apple-bobbing on the patio and a pumpkin-carving competition for the kids with the winners being presented with prizes by none other than club captain, “Sinister” Sam Ruff!

Of course, we’ll also be putting on our usual matchday entertainment with Chelsea vs Liverpool live in the clubhouse from 12:45pm, fiendishly hot food courtesy of “Spooky” Shelagh’s Meals and creepy cocktails plus other libations served by “Alarming Audrey” at the bar. We’ll have a specially themed playlist of music over the PA and many other sideshows during the day to enjoy.

It’s half-term so it is “Kids For A Quid” again at the turnstiles and just £6 for adults so we encourage everyone in Hertford to come along, enjoy the festivities and dress up accordingly!

Hertford-ghosts

It should be quite the party and rumours have it that there will also be an adults-only apple-bobbing in cider competition later on in the evening too…
