Following on from Friday’s amazingly successful Inclusive football festival, we returned to 1st team action on Saturday afternoon.
The sun shone at The Park on Saturday as Hertford Town shared the spoils with league favourites, London Colney. Colney took the lead with a clinical finish from Lee Armitt who was initially omitted from the official teamsheet read out over the PA pre-match before Blues Player Of The Month for August, Lou Rose levelled from the spot after new boy Darren “Willo” Williams was brought down in the box just before the interval.
Colney regained the advantage on 52mins after more sloppy Blues defending but Elliot King restored parity on 84mins rifling in from close range following a TJ free-kick. Lou Rose could have sealed the win with another spot-kick awarded on 87mins but the visiting ‘keeper guessed correctly second time around and tipped the penalty around the post with a fingertip save.
The Gaffa was happy overall with a point against a very good Premier Division side but still rued the missed chances to take all three points on the day and still keen to reiterate The Blues’ unbeaten start to the season in the clubhouse post-match. (Remember to remove your shoes as Audrey is really protective about her brand-new clubhouse carpet) Paul also took time out to praise the fantastic home support (numbering 175 on the day) who sang their hearts out for the lads from start to finish . . . keep it up boys! See the match page for stats, photos and a match summary from our Twitter feed.
The first batch of replica shirts have now been delivered and were worn with pride by the lucky fans who received their orders yesterday. Get yours ordered at The Wendy House next Saturday before we play our next SSML league game against Sun Sports!
