The sun shone on The Park on Saturday on what was a very busy day for everyone involved.
We started early with another bumper group participating in our regular Saturday morning inclusive football training for disabled adults which is growing in popularity every week. The lucky boys and girls were even filmed by The FA cameras who were in attendance to shoot our friends from Bengeo Tigers as part of The FA’s respect campaign.
Keep an eye out for the edited footage at www.thefa.com this week to see who managed to make the cut. We’ll tweet out the link when we have it.
Girls and boys of all ages from Bengeo Tigers then played exhibition games prior to The Blues pre-season friendly against Ryman North side Hanwell Town. They were also joined by Blues gaffa, Paul Halsey and mascot, Tilly the Tiger until the heat got to her!
Thanks to everyone who helped out to make this event such a success.
The Blues game itself was a hugely entertaining affair with both teams sharing eight goals between them as promised in our preview on this very site last week! Hertford Town went into the break 4-0 ahead before the gaffa shuffled his pack for the 2nd half ensuring the whole squad enjoyed valuable game time minutes on an immaculate surface as we near the season opener away to Oxhey Jets in the cup.
The team also wore the new home kit sponsored by HBS for the first time and it looked beautiful. We suspect that replicas will fly off the shelves in our club shop once released.
Jimmy’s Greek BBQ was also a huge success and many went home with full, happy tummies!
Next up for The Blues will be an away trip to play Wormley Rovers on Tuesday night before returning to The Park on Saturday to face Southern Football League side, Potters Bar Town to complete pre-season. Details can be found on our fixtures page.

Thanks to Bengeo Tigers for the cover shot.
